Island Girl Art Studio

My name is Penny Maday Ciochetti and I am the artist/instructor/ owner at Island Girl Art Studio.
The studio opened it's doors on Vancouver Island in 2009 .  I have been an artist since I was a child, long before receiving training or a degree in Fine Arts.  For the past 34 years , I have been creating Arts Curriculum  for schools, public organisations, community agencies, corporate and private clients and participants of all ages - children, youth , adults and seniors. I have a lot of experience teaching children with  developmental and learning challenges as well as children  in Excellence Programs in several school boards across western Canada as well as six years  teaching in First Nation Schools.
My area of expertise is related to 'creativity' and the creative process. I love  helping the  Beginner gain experience and encouraging adults to be open, brave and expressive while developing their mastery , style, confidence and expression . For children and youth, my goal is to help them gain skills or mastery while  retaining their expression; which is often lost as they grow older and worry about "conforming" or measuring-up, rather than being themselves.
I have spent many years assisting the experienced artist to develop their style,  technical skill, critical eye and refine the fundamental principles of design as well as to answer the central question all artist should ask themselves - "  Why? "or "What is the work I am meant to do?"

Island Girl Art Studio is a professional artist's work space  which also has a teaching space within it, where we work together in a learning environment, surrounded by all the materials at an artist's disposal. Students learn, participate and  create their art in a real studio environment and have access to all the studio resources, supplies, materials  and the  artist's  knowledge, instruction and experience as well as the creative encouragement and support of other students/participants.

Penny Maday Ciochetti's work can be seen on her website:

I'll hold your hand and provide the coffee , tea and everything else - it's gonna be Ok.
