Ruben Galdames discovered sculpture at an important time in his life and the work he created came from a personal journey. These works are bold, and expressive . Have you always wanted to give sculpture a try but didn't know where to start or is there someone you'd like to capture in a clay bust ? Learn the process of creating a clay bust using the slab technique. Clay, firing and other supplies are included. ( Students will need to bring their own basic clay carving tool set - available at art store or online for approximately $12). Some specialty glazes may be extra . Students need to bring a good sized printed photo or image as reference. ( No, you cannot use your cell phone, sorry). This can be a photo of you or someone you love, or just a page from a magazine as long as we can clearly see the features. All levels welcome, including beginners! Note: Classes are scheduled based on drying time for the clay .First class is a Friday & then we change to a Thursday. Check your calendar. Friday, Aug. 19 ( 4:00 - 8:00 pm), - Introduction and building armature ( head and structure) Thursday, Aug. 25 ( 4:00 - 8:00 pm) - Refining the shape & developing features or likeness. Thursday, Sept. 1 ( 4:00 - 8:00 pm) - Finishing & preparing for firing. Maximum 5 students. Course Fee: $340
