Saturday series of One Day Workshops: Ancestral Portraits This is an opportunity to paint a portrait of someone from your family. The image you see here is a portrait of my great-grandmother ( Nonna Domenica). Her name means Sunday in Italian, and she was so greatly loved and still is. I painted this portrait to remind me of her, because she is so very dear to me, even though I never met her. I feel like she guides me still and always sends me love. We use a unique process that combines printing and painting to create a 'likeness' of someone. This is not intended to be a perfect portrait, as all levels are welcome. No drawing or painting experience is required. Students bring a color ( 8 X 10'') photocopy of a family photo they would like to use for this project. All other supplies are provided. Ages 16 & up are welcome.
